Annoying Messenger Pop-Ups
How to get rid of them

Open up your control panel/administrative tools (classic view):

 Then services:

 Highlight messenger then double click it.

Stop the Messenger service then disable its startup.

This is one type of pop up people are using to send annoying messages. This is not part of the MSN Messenger IM program.

My screens may look different than yours since I run in classic mode but the services can be found in the administrative area.
